What if we can avoid trauma?

The study of the hands of children - the fingers, the lines, the prints - as Kant said ‘The hand is the visible part of the brain’

Each of us is as unique as our fingerprints…if you haven’t had your hand prints analysed, do have a look at this page. Palmistry/hand reading is invaluable as a tool for self-understanding, and for understanding the true nature of each of our children, too.

I’ve been reading the hands of many children lately, and I must say I’ve seen similar patterns turn up in the lines on children’s palms which evidence potential trauma.  If we’re quick enough as parents to help these children resolve their problems, we can help them grow into emotionally resilient, well-balanced adults.

At this point I must confess I never parented - it looked like a very tricky job from where I stood as a child. My own hands bear a couple of fingerprints that don’t like commitment! The biggest commitment has to be bringing children into this world.

Children who’ve experienced what they perceive to be traumatic such as parental divorce, the loss of a loved one, being bullied at school, can show up in features in their hands. Palmists can help parents understand what’s most likely going on within the mind of the child.

There are lines in the palms which show a child who’s really not coping while pretending to the world that they’re fine. Finger lengths of specific fingers will show us where there may be issues arising in their young minds. Perhaps they want to avoid being seen as vulnerable.

For some time I’ve been interested in the work of Dr Gabor Maté, well-known for his work in childhood development, trauma, the long-term effects of stress on physical and mental health. Blocking or ignoring emotional stresses can create stuck emotions, which in the long term can be alarmingly harmful.

I’ve read rather a lot of self-development books since my teen years, in my own attempt to find out what life is truly about. I had many questions, some very deep - they’ve never gone away!

Having been a secretly depressed teenager myself, talking to no-one about it because I took the phrase ‘laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone’ rather too seriously…I’m now on a mission to seek modalities to help interrupt the cycles that trauma can bring with it into adult life. Hand reading is a great place to begin this journey by helping us better understand the unique true nature of ourselves and our young ones.

I’m so grateful for all the alternative therapies and therapists in existence at this time. And of course to my teacher, Johnny Fincham whose own enthusiasm, research and wisdom in the hand reading field has rubbed off on me these past 20 years.

As Ram Dass said:

‘when you want to become truly who you are badly enough, there is no way you cannot use everything in your life as a vehicle for awakening’.

I know this to be true. To rely on pills to fix physical and mental (they’re inextricably linked) health issues is to lose an opportunity for growth.

If we can move these stuck emotions soon enough, we can help our children remain naturally awakened beings with no need for therapy of any kind. What a beautiful world that will be. I’m finding some answers, testing the techniques out. Many are simple, free and can be done in the moment, helping to bypass the need to store difficult emotions which may express as chronic ails, mentally and/or physically in later life.

I’ll keep you posted. If you’ve not signed up for my newsletter, you’d be most welcome - you can join at the foot of this page.

In the meantime, one writer I’d highly recommend is Dr David Hawkins - specifically his book ‘Letting go’.

If you or a loved one would like a hand reading with me, either in person (Norfolk, UK) or online, contact me and we’ll book you in. Vouchers are available. More info here.
