Graduating with a first class degree in visual studies at the Norwich school of art & design (now NUA), I went on to do photography for a living for some 20 years. Since 2020 I’ve come back around to making art. I’ll likely never stop photographing - I’m into my sixth decade now and I can’t recall life without a camera! Both my photography and my art look at true nature. Growing up in the Norfolk countryside, I’ve always had a love of the natural world and the peace it brings.
Sustainability and the interconnectedness of everything has been a constant theme in my art.
I’m deeply inspired by the natural world, and by ancient philosophies and the understanding that nothing is permanent.
For more recent art projects I’ve grown my own biodegradable, natural pigments in my own garden to make non-toxic inks and dyes. I’m becoming less tolerant of chemicals, and want to reconnect with the offerings of the natural world and work within the cycles of nature.
If you’re interested in commissioning me to work with plants from your own garden or to discuss a bespoke project for your home or workplace, use the contact form or email me.
True nature: hand readings
It turns out that your psychology is imprinted into your hands. Hand reading, palmistry - it’s not fortune telling, it’s psychiatry!
During a reading with one of the world’s most sought-after palmists I recognised in my own hands that what can be perceived as challenges are also our unique gifts, and it was groundbreaking for me to be reminded of them. I began my studies in hand reading with Johnny Fincham back in 2007, but due to the busyness of my photography business never completed my final paper! So I began updating my studies again and qualified in early 2022 through the teachings of the man who’d read my hands and was my inspiration.
Hand reading is a method of counselling someone back to one’s own true nature. In the many busy roles we’re required to play in our lives we can too easily forget who we truly are, what our gifts and talents are. When you have clarity around who you are, you can move forward into a life where you’re truly living in your element. Hand reading to me is a dialogue, a talking therapy. If there’s a particular area of your life you’re needing clarity on, we can find patterns in your hands to help you make sense of it and move forward in a positive way which befits and benefits your true nature.
If you’d like an in-person reading with me here in Norfolk (UK), send an email or use the contact page and we’ll get you booked in.
— True Nature
organic arts
Much of the media I use begins life as a seed, grown organically into flowers, and much of it is sensitively foraged from local hedgerows. Colours are extracted using pure rain water. It’s important for me that my art is sustainable, and during its lifetime will bring benefit to this beautiful planet we call home. When its life as art is over, much of my work will biodegrade naturally. No toxins, no plastics, just pure, true nature.
